OVER 400 FAMILOES LEFT HOMELESS IN KIRINYAGA AFTER FLOODS DISPLACED THEM

Over 400 families have been left with no place to call home after they were displaced by flooding which has hit area of Kirinyaga county.According to kirinyaga county commissioner Jim Njoka 350 acre’s of land which has been under crops has also been destroyed putting hundreds of people at risk of hunger.Addressing press after visiting people affected by the flood at Thiguku village , Ndia constituency, Mr Njoka said that heavy down pour witnessed last night caused heavy flash floods in various parts of Ndia and Mwea constituency leaving residents in dare need of urgent relief supply.He said that the affected families lack basic needs such as food stuffs and clothes after their houses were submerged in water.Mr Njoka who was accompanied by top security team both county and Sub counties said that more families have been displaced  after river Tana break it’s banks at Ngando areas.He termed the current situation along river Tana as very dangerous and called residents to move out.The administrator said that after assessing the situation he will write report to national government requesting for relief supply for those affected.
