Kenya Pentecostal churches alliance posters push for church reopening saying the government should recognize churches as an important facet towards Covid 19 pandemic war.
Speaking in Athi River, the clergy under the KPA umbrella said the government includes churches to prohibit social gathering which is discriminatory.
The KPA chairperson Bishop Jonah Kariuki says churches are institutions with laid down administrative structures to govern their congregation. They want the government to work with churches to sensitize members of the public on the pandemic.
The pastors claim they expected the president would open churches last Sunday considering most churches are ready to adhere to the government guidelines.
Also the clergy want the government not to impose tough conditions for churches including sanitization booths in churches for churches to re-open.
They claim most churches currently are facing financial crisis urging the government to intervene to supply personal protective equipments (PPEs)
They are rooting for inclusive representatives in the church committee deliberating on the government on possible churches re opening saying every church opinion must be heard.
KPA is currently reaching their congregation through social media and other forums sensitizing them on Covid 19 virus in a bid to curb the virus spread.
